Nowadays many people feel more and more worried about the fact that they need to pass over this hard economic crisis and all the problems surrounding their lives. The big stress mixed with poor eating and cutting out workouts leads to heart attacks and coronary diseases.
Karol Watson, an associate professor of cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles, wrote in a statement released by the school that there has been a big increase in the patients complaining about anxiety, stress and palpitations.
He added that much of these kinds of symptoms can be prevented and the best thing to do is to follow a healthy lifestyle and to be careful about the cardiovascular risk factors. The whole team of cardiologists at the UCLA has also released a full list of advices to be followed by adults and children during these hard times.
So when you feel your heart starts beating powerfully and more often than before, you should consider the way you eat and the food you eat. Cardiologists say it’s better to consume five types of fruits and vegetables each and every day. In addition, you should also cook simple and fresh food at home, instead of buying junk food from the fast foods.
An exercise program is also recommended for adults and children as well. Doctors say that 30 minutes of walking around the neighborhood is good enough to keep you fit and healthy. Exercises are also a good way to prevent obesity, diabetes and heart attacks.
Smoking and secondhand smoking are the next two things that should be avoided during these times. Besides the fact that cigarettes are expensive, they also damage one’s health by increasing the risks of a heart attack. Cardiologists stick to the fact that quitting this bad habit may reduces the risks of cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
People who feel depressed and over their limits should reduce the stress in their lives by finding a positive outlet. Doctors say that exercise, meditation or just the company of other people is a good thing to make the stress go away and improve one’s health.
Busy people are also the ones who don’t have the time for checking their health. But they are advised to see a physician from time to time as to find out what is the best way to keep the bad cholesterol levels low and the good levels up.
Yet, one of the most dangerous ways of having a heart attack is the one caused by the hypertension. Called “the silent killer,” such a condition shows off very little warning signs. So the best thing to do is to check your blood pressure and treat it right away with the help of the numerous treatments available for it.
