Sunday, a small plane crashed off the coast of Oceanside. Two persons from the plane were reported missing and one was rescued. According to NBC Sandiego.com, authorities said the plane, a four-seat Cessna 172, crashed about 1.5 miles offshore. The Federal Aviation Administration said that the aircraft left from Montgomery Field in San Diego, went to Long Beach and was coming back when the accident happened.

The accident was reported around 5 p.m. and the person who was rescued was found in the water, by a private boater. He was transported to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla., having a broken leg. His identity was not made public.

The Coast Guard sent a Jayhawk helicopter to find the other missing persons but the fog put an end to the search, at about 8.45 p.m. The good news was that there were also some boats sent to search the passengers.

"Right now there's only 500 to 600 feet of visibility out there," said Lt. Josh Nelson of the Coast Guard, according to NBC Sandiego.com.

The plane is registered to San Diego Flight Training International Inc. There were no comments. Authorities said that they were investigating the cause of the accident.
