ABC may have been the most-watched television network during
this year’s premiere week, but CBS managed to obtain last week’s top position
with a bit of help from “NCIS” and “The Mentalist.” Although CBS has yet to bring
into play its highest-rated series, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” it
nevertheless won the week in both total viewers and the 18-to-49-year-old
demographic that advertisers keenly hunt, as six of the 10 most popular shows
of the week, including “60 Minutes” and “Criminal Minds,” belonged to the
network.
CBS claimed the first spot with an average of 11.1 million
viewers, followed by ABC with 9.2 million viewers, NBC, which drew 7.8 million
viewers, and Fox with 6.5 million viewers, according to figures released on
Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research.
Despite the fact that ABC’s dearly loved “Dancing with the
Stars” was the week’s most-watched show, luring approximately 18.88 million
viewers, hospital drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” which usually draws huge audiences,
was not broadcast on Thursday, as the heavily discussed vice presidential
debate took its place, and this may represent one of the reasons why ABC lost
its top network position.
The premiere of CBS’s “The Ex-List” did not go very well, as
the series starring Elizabeth Reaser made an unimpressive 6.8 million viewers
tune in.
NBC’s most successful program was “Sunday Night Football,”
with 14.21 million viewers, while the Peacock’s “Heroes” slipped from its once
upon a time hit title with 9.5 million viewers.
While Fox’s “House” and “Fringe” won additional viewers
compared to last week, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” is going
really down.
