Ending speculation revolving around Britney Spears' potential return on CBS' comedy "How I Met Your Mother," the network confirmed on Monday that they are "thrilled" to have her back.
"We're all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again," series executive producer and co-creator Craig Thomas was quoted by Associated Press as saying in a statement.
"And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney's very nice and no, I can't get her autograph for you," Thomas added, jokingly.
The troubled pop singer, whose March 24 appearance on the show helped the show capture its highest ratings ever, was subjected to various numerous claiming she would reprise her role as Abby, a ditsy secretary to a dermatologist, Stella (played by "Scrubs" star Sarah Chalke), who develops a crush on the show's main character, Ted.
The next episode, which is expected to be shot this week and aired on May 12, will reportedly find Abby hooking up with womanising character Barney to get even with Ted.
"Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal Barney pops a surprising question to Abby," CBS said describing the show.
Britney's first performance, which barely lasted four minutes, generated besides the record 10.6 million viewers, up sharply from the show's season-to-date average audience of 8.1 million, a load of positive reviews for her screen presence, relaxed tone in saying her lines and for her appearance overall.
Though never confirmed, it was Britney's camp who initially approached the show, starring Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") as an urban family of 20-something New Yorkers, seeking a part for Britney.
