WLIW/Channel 12 will air on Wednesday night the premiere of “Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band: Live in Barcelona,” which is an-hour-long concert starting 10 p.m. and broadcasting nine songs from Springsteen’s October 16, 2002 concert.
Yet, his days as a television star seem to have ended, even if he doesn’t want his fans to forget him. On Sunday he will also be a halftime entertainer at the Super Bowl on NBC for 13 minutes.
On Saturday night at 11 p.m. VH1 will also broadcast a documentary about Springsteen’s new album, “Working on a Dream,” which came out on Tuesday. This is the musician’s 16th studio album and it will also be promoted through a European tour, whose dates are going to be settled at the end on January 2009.
Springsteen was also the one who helped anchor the musical celebration of Barack Obama’s inauguration last week. His song, “The Wrestler” helped him win a Golden Globe as he had also been nominated for some Grammys on February 8. Yet, these appearances are just some kind of reward for all the work he had done.
The only thing Springsteen wants is to deliver his messages to his fans. And he wants to do this by no matter what means. First, he gave a preview of his latest album to the National Public Radio and an exclusive CD at Wal-Mart and after that, he began showing off at TV.
He married Julianne Philips when he was 35 years old in 1985, and she was only 25. This marriage had helped Philips’ career flourish, even if their backgrounds weren’t the same. With all his travelling, Springsteen began to cheat on Philips with Patti Scialfa. He got divorced in 1988 and had a son with Scialfa, Evan James. Springsteen married her in 1991 and had another son, Sam Ryan.
