Rock legend Bruce Springsteen is releasing a new album in early October, his first collaboration with longtime touring band E Street.
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band started playing together in 1972 and continued their collaboration throughout the decades. 2002’s album “The Rising” is the last time the singer and the band worked together.
Come October 2, though, fans will be able to delight in The Boss’s 15th studio album, titled “Magic” and its “high-energy rock” with The E Street Band.
Jon Landau, Springsteen's longtime manager, announced the pending release of “Magic,” saying in a statement that the album is “immensely entertaining.”
“It's light on its feet,” Landau said, “incredibly well played by Bruce and the members of the E Street Band and, as always, has plenty to say.”
The 11-song set was recorded with producer Brendan O’Brien over a period of two months, earlier this year in Atlanta. It will be released by Columbia Records, the label announced Thursday.
Brendan O’Brien has worked with the likes of Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots and Incubus. He previously worked with Springsteen on 2002’s “The Rising” and 2005’s “Devils and Dust.”
“The Rising” received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2003, selling over two million copies in the US alone. The Boss and The E Street Band reunited on this album after more than a decade’s hiatus.
Folk album “Devils and Dust” received five Grammy Award nominations and one win, for Best Solo Rock Vocal (“Devils and Dust”).
Songs on “Magic” include the title track, “Radio Nowhere,” “You'll Be Comin' Down,” “Livin' in the Future,” “Your Own Worst Enemy,” “Gypsy Biker,” “Girls in Their Summer Clothes,” “I'll Work for Your Love,” “Last to Die,” “Long Walk Home” and “Devil's Arcade.”
Springsteen, 57, was not idle in the time elapsed, releasing “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions,” a Pete Seeger tribute album, in 2006 and “Bruce Springsteen with The Sessions Band: Live in Dublin,” later that same year.
Rolling Stone announces on its site that the first single from “Magic” slated for release is “Radio Nowhere.”
While there is some speculation about Springsteen and The E Street Band embarking on a world tour to support the album, manager Landau declined to offer any details, telling Rolling Stone “the tour has not been fully decided.”
