“Dancing with the Stars” is the American version of the original British show named “Strictly Come Dancing”, which was distributed by BBC. The first country to produce a version of the show was Australia, soon followed by another 30 countries, namely the United States, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden and Ukraine. The show is currently one of the most popular and widely-viewed worldwide. It has even reached Top 10 in 17 countries so far.
The format of the show centers on pairs of dancers, which consist of celebrities being paired up with professional ballroom dancers. They perform several dances, of different genres. They are awarded grades by a panel of judges, all of which have experience in dancing and in show business in general. The couples who receive the lowest grades are eliminated each week, and the score is a combination of the mark given by the judges and the score they get from the public, who can vote throughout the show.
The star of the current season, the seventh in the series, is undoubtedly Brooke Burke, declared “the sensation of season seven” by the judges. The spectacular, intense season ended with Brooke being unsurprisingly declared the champion. Seemingly speechless, the winner managed to utter a single word: “Unbelievable.” She managed to beat the other two remaining contestants, namely Warren Sapp, the NFL legend, but also boy-band star Lance Bass, who came in third. Ecstatic about the results, Brooke thanked her partner, Derek Hough, and the show for offering her the opportunity to experience such a wonderful journey.
