While Britney Spears personal life is all over the news these days, her comeback "Gimme More" video premiered online little before its official release next week on MTV.
Featuring Britney dressed in a skimpy outfit while taking over a stripper pole and performing, the new video surely is a great distraction from the ongoing custody battle with Kevin Federline, which Britney is one small step away from losing.
Although the video might come as a disappointment for some, her single "Gimme More" which she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, is already burning up the charts. In fact, according to some chart analysts, the song is Britney’s best one since "Hit Me Baby One More Time," X17online.com reported.
According to a representative for Britney’s record company, the video’s director Jake Sarfaty was picked for the job by the 25-year-old singer herself while the video’s concept was entirely Britney’s idea.
Speaking about Britney’s recent behavior and a judge’s decision to take away her kids after she failed to produce her driving license and missed a test for drugs and alcohol, a spokesman for Jive Records said in a statement it was not the label’s right to make comments on the singer’s "personal issues, but we do care about her and support her."
"There's no question that when performers attain the level of celebrity that Britney has, they tend to be treated by the press and public as if they were cartoon or soap-opera characters, and we forget that they're actually human beings. Britney's a grown woman who makes her own choices, and we respect that. But she faces challenges that most of us can't really imagine," the statement added.
Earlier this week, Judge Scott Gordon ruled that Britney "was not in substantial compliance with material provisions of the Court's September 17, 2007 order" which required her to submit to random alcohol and drug testing, attend counseling and provide a valid California drivers license as well.
Until the next court hearing scheduled for October 26, the couple’s two children will be staying with K-Fed while Britney must finish "at least three individual counseling sessions" and "at least three joint counseling sessions" with her ex-husband.
Unless Britney puts and end to her erratic behavior, the judge threatened to take away her supervised visitation rights as well.
"The court expressly indicates that a missed test, refusal to submit to a test or failure to respond to the testing agency's call ... shall be deemed ... a failed test," Gordon wrote in documents released yesterday.
