Britney's Earning and Spending Detailed in Court

Financial declarations were made public Thursday in the custody feud between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, showing that the pop singer can afford to support her former husband if he receives custody of their children.

Britney Spears has an impressive monthly income of around $737,000, of which she spends $49,267 in mortgage for two houses, $102,000 on entertainment, gifts and vacation and $16,000 for clothes, each month, court papers released Thursday show.

The 25-year-old mother of two also gives her ex-husband $15,000 per month in child support and $20,000 in spousal support. Spousal support ends Nov. 15. Unless Federline receives full custody of the two boys, in which case Britney, might have to pay him even more in child support, as she can afford it because she earns a considerably larger amount of money than he does.

This comes as no surprise of course. Federline, 29, was a back-up dancer when they met and fell in love. He then became Mr. Spears and attempted to launch a rap career. This did not work, although court papers showed that K-Fed earned $3,300 in royalties for his single “Popo Zao.”

His financial declaration shows that he earned more than $500,000 in 2006 but after business expenses only grossed $7,436. Fortunately, his former wife helps him pay $7,500 for rent and $6,000 for security, as well as clothes worth $2,000 and $5,000 on entertainment, gifts and vacation, and $1,500 eating out.

Documents released Thursday show that Britney temporarily lost custody of her children in October because she defied a court order, namely driving with her children without a valid driver’s license. Shortly after being forbidden by Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon, the singer was photographed driving Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, around Malibu.

Court papers also show that, while Britney is allowed to se her two sons three times a week, including one overnight visit, all their time together must be supervised.

The singer also must continue to submit to random drug testing. She completed the licensing process at the Van Nuys Department of Motor Vehicles last month.

Britney and Federline’s two-year marriage officially ended on July 31, 2006. At the time, the two former spouses shared joint legal and physical custody of their two boys. Only a few days later Federline’s attorney filed for sole custody of the kids, hinting they would be less at “risk” with their father.
