The day Britney Spears will be questioned under oath about her mothering skills and wild lifestyle by her ex-hubby’s lawyers, finally arrived.
After a two-week break from court, the bitter custody battle between the pop singer and her former husband, Kevin Federline, will resume as sources close to Britney confirmed that she will have her deposition taken Wednesday at 10 AM in the Los Angeles offices of K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, who has been trying to get Brit under oath for nearly a year, TMZ reported.
The troubled mother-of-two, who was previously criticized for being "a habitual, frequent and continuous" substance abuser, is expected to give honest answers to a wide range of matters, including personal issues. Also attending the meeting will be Britney’s legal team including lawyers Anne Kiley and Tara Scott who are set to raise any objections they might have to Kaplan’s questioning.
As previously reported, Britney’s deposition will not be videotaped, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled in late October despite Kaplan’s efforts, whose intentions were to eventually use her deposition as evidence in his case to win primary custody for his client. At that time, Kaplan complained that Britney had evaded a deposition four times over the course of a year.
Since the estranged couple’s fight for the custody of their two toddler sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, started, the kids have been mostly in their dad’s care after Britney lost the custody to Federline in early October due to her erratic lifestyle, but she was soon awarded monitored visitation rights.
Last month, the two agreed to share time with the children on Christmas, but a final custody arrangement remained unresolved.
"A deposition can be emotionally draining, because Kevin's lawyer can ask very personal questions about her relationship with her kids – and she'll be under oath," L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who's not involved with the case, was quoted by People as saying.
