Ex-spouses Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have reportedly agreed on the custody of their children. The two reached a settlement in their nearly 18 month-year-old court battle over the custody of their two sons.
Britney Spears will still be allowed to visit her children twice a week plus an overnight, while Federline was granted the sole custody of Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. According to Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, the two, which used to be a couple, signed off on a settlement in their custody case.
The final settlement in the Kevin Federline-Britney Spears custody case was signed at about 8 p.m. PT.
“All parties have agreed to the following: Kevin will retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. Britney will continue to have visitation rights which may increase over time. The agreement will be presented to the court in the morning for approval by the commissioner," Kaplan told FoxNews.com.
The judge scheduled a hearing in the custody case for 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday.
When asked about the state of his client, Kaplan described Federline as “ecstatic” and said the two boys “are thriving.” The case was settled and court has to approve it, while both parents will appear in court today.
The battle for the custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James started in October 2007 with 50-50 custody. Throughout the following period, Spears had a series of controversial and quite humiliating incidents. The pop icon was hospitalized twice for mental health problems and as a consequence she lost custody and even visitation rights. Nevertheless, she gradually managed to win back some of her rights as a mother.
Britney Spears is now under the legal conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears, a move credited by many of the singer’s watchers. Since her father came back in her life, Spears has followed a spotless path and, if she keeps this up, it will surely increase her chances when she will try to earn more custody rights.
