Britney Spears and Her Strange Restraining Order Situation

According to The Associated Press, Britney Spears has succeeded in obtaining restraining orders against ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and former friend/manager Osama "Sam" Lutfi. Attorneys for Spears and her father, who is her legal conservator, received the order Friday.

A hearing for is scheduled for Feb. 23 to review the matter. Britney's parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, and her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, are also included under the protection order.

According to TMZ, the conservators believe Lutfi and Ghalib conspired to try and undermine Britney's conservatorship in a way that would have been extremely harmful to her. Moreover, according to the same source, attorney Jon Eardley, who Lutfi used early last year to mount a bizarre, baseless attack on the conservatorship, was allegedly also in on the conspiracy. So that means that Britney actually has to protect herself form three dubious men. She obtained a restraining order against the latter as well.

Lufti allegedly moved in with Britney shortly after their meeting in October 2007. A temporary restraining order was filed against him on February 1, 2008, the date Britney’s conservatorship was established. According to the papers, Britney “continues to communicate” with Ghalib, a member of the paparazzi, sending him her whereabouts so his people can film her.

Neither Ghalib nor Lutfi have returned calls made by UsMagazine.com in regard to this latest matter, according to their site.
The court documents, released Friday, claim that Lutfi has tried to contact Spears by sending text messages to her hairdresser and has sent "anonymous, harassing and threatening" messages to her father, whom he also contacted, asking if there was anything he could do to help, according to court documents.

However the restraining order forbids Lutfi and Ghalib from contacting Spears or coming within 250 yards of her, her property or family members. During the Feb. 23 hearing the matter of the restraining orders and how long they will last will also be discussed.

The exact nature of the new restraining orders was not immediately clear, as a court official told the AP that the documents were behind locked doors in the judge's chambers. Strangely, Spears and her father had chosen not to renew a temporary restraining order against Lutfi when it expired this past July.

"Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi," Britney's court-appointed attorney Samuel D. Ingham III said in a statement at the time. "Now or at any time in the future."

After several months of court appearances last year, Spears’ legal and financial affairs were put under the indefinite control of her father and another co-conservator. She released her latest album, “Circus,” in November and will embark on a world tour to support the record in March.
