It all seems very favorable for pop star Britney Spears to
make a real comeback, as the singer is on the list of nominees for the 2008 MTV
Video Music Awards with her video for “Piece of Me,” as it was revealed on Friday.
After being voted by thousands of fans, the 26-year-old pop
princess received a VMA nomination for Best Female Music Video. She will
compete with other famous figures of the music industry such as Katy Perry,
with her video for “I Kissed a Girl”, Jordin Sparks with “No Air”, Rihanna and
her “Take a Bow” and Mariah Carey with the “Touch My Body” video.
However, it is still unclear whether Britney will perform at
the event after her disastrous act last year, which the New York Post judged as
“totally lame”, exposing her belly and swaying across the stage while
performing “Gimme More.” Nonetheless, if she does, she should at least try to
mend last year’s unsuccessful incident.
Maybe a true comeback is not so improbable after all.
Britney completely cleared almost all the trouble in her life, including the
public custody battle with her former husband, Kevin Federline. Furthermore,
the pop singer is now working on a fresh album, after last year’s “Blackout”
was highly praised by the critics.
The 25th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by
British actor/comedian Russell Brand and will air live on September 7 at 9 p.m.
ET/PT from Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California.
