Britney Spears, who hasn’t seen her two kids in six weeks already, had a blast teaching children not much older than her own, how to dance.
According to UsMagazine.com, the 26-year-old pop singer, who is currently embroiled in a fierce custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, showed up at Hollywood’s Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood Monday night for a dance lesson with a group of six kids ages 4-9.
“The class was amazing,” Robert Baker, director of the Millennium Dance Complex was quoted by People as saying.
According to sources, the troubled singer was happy to introduced herself to every student in particular and also ask them if they liked Madonna, since her songs made the play list for the class.
“She comes in, she winds them up, and then tells them, ‘I guess I have to introduce myself to you guys!’” Baker explained.
Sporting "her favorite brown cowboy boots, fishnet stockings, a red short skirt, and a bluish greenish top that hangs down past her skirt,” the “Gimme More” immediately launched into her routine that included “Material Girl” and “True Blue,” while the parents were watching.
“She worked out this great little routine for them, they were dancing all over the place, she had them dancing in a circle like a choo-choo train,” Baker said. “The kids loved it- they are having a ball right now. And Britney- she’s just drinking it up. She’s totally enjoying herself. It’s an amazing class- she and the kids are certainly enjoying the process.”
The children were selected from the studio’s junior program, with their parents’ permission, “They were thrilled. One parent summed it up: 'It's a once in a lifetime event.'”
Britney, who was hospitalized earlier this month to receive treatment for bipolar disorder, has been spotted at the studio several times since her February 6 release.
“Britney’s telling me that she likes this so much that she’s thinking about making it a regular thing, possibly every other week. She loves to interact with the kids, and she feels that it’s important to give back to the dance community,” Baker said.
“She's been a client for 10 years, and she loves dancing and she loves kids,” Baker told MTV News on Tuesday (February 12). “She has been rehearsing in our facility for the last month and a half for her next video, and she said, 'You know, I'd love to teach a class.' It's something she's done sporadically over the last 10 years. And the kids just loved it. She asked me to pick some kids for her to teach. The kids loved her, she was warm and friendly.”
