Fallen pop princess Britney Spears is reclaiming her tiara
and what better way to reconnect with her audience than through another sexy Rolling
Stone magazine cover and a candid interview?
Britney Spears is about to celebrate her 27th anniversary by
releasing a new album and embarking on a world tour. The mother of two is
reviving her career and Rolling Stone’s new issue, on newsstands Friday,
features a frank interview.
Spears confesses she now feels like “an old person,” make
that like “an old fart,” because she does not go out anymore and retires by
9:30 every night. The occasional date she has usually turns out badly, she
adds.
The time she appears to adore most is that spent with her
children, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2. Spears says the two toddlers
are “such special boys” and that she is overwhelmed each time they visit her,
seeing how they change from one day to the next.
The singer lost custody of the boys to her former husband,
Kevin Federline, in July, and now sees them three days a week, with one
overnight stay. The toddlers are currently fascinated with monsters, she
giggles, and every night “we look outside, and we have to show them that
there’s no monsters out there.”
This “we” comes up in Spears’ answers a lot, suggesting she
is never alone anymore, always accompanied by father Jamie Spears, who has been
her co-conservator (with attorney Andrew
Wallet) since February and will remain so for an undetermined period of time,
by her mom Lynne Spears, manager Larry Rudolph or some assistant…
Then again, excerpts from “Britney: For the Record,” a
documentary airing on MTV later this month, have made it clear that Britney
Spears is under tight control nowadays. She says so herself, comparing her
post-meltdown life with “Groundhog Day” and lamenting her lack of freedom.
Spears confesses to Rolling Stone she had never imagined her
husband would leave her. She and Federline, once her backup dancer, married in September
2004, after about half a year of dating, welcomed their two sons in September
2005 and September 2006 respectively and were officially divorced in July 2007.
Federline has full custody of the boys.
Britney Spears sounds hurt as she comments the boys do not
look like their father but like her and that she suspects they’ve learned words
like “stupid” and the f-word from their “daddy.”
Her new album, “Circus,” comes out December 2. She will be
celebrating her birthday with a live performance that day in New York City on “Good Morning America,”
promoting her latest musical effort.
