It's been over two years since Britney Spears' last interview, and we can't say we read too many news on her life lately either, but little details are already emerging about the singer's first cogent, rational interview since her 2006 divorce.

The troubled pop singer has definitely been through a lot in the past two years, from her nasty divorce and custody battle to rehab and nervous breakdowns, but everything seems to be heading in the right direction now.

In tell-all interview with OK! magazine, Britney Spears talked about the ups and downs in her life, but more importantly about how things are going now and her plans for the future.

Her father and conservator, Jamie, sat through the whole interview as well, and though he's been very media shy, he did a little talking about his new relationship with his daughter.

Smooth-talking her way throughout the interview, Britney revealed that she doesn’t necessarily want her sons, Jayden and Preston, to pursue a career in the entertainment business. "I’d rather not," she told OK!. "But I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood."

Britney, who the custody of her children in October last year due to her erratic behavior and some legal trouble, was allowed extra visits with her two young sons following an agreement with her former husband Kevin Federline last month. In exchange to the visits and one overnight stay per week, the singer raised her child support payments to Federline from $15,000 to $20,000 a month.

In terms of custody, "Kevin is all for everything. He wants her to have 50/50 custody. He wants them to raise these kids together. Kevin’s heart is right," Jamie explained.

Fresh-faced and glowing, Britney was nothing like the woman who stormed out last year out of an OK! photo shoot, before the interview was over, also wearing $14,526 worth of OK!'s borrowed clothing and jewelry.

However, Britney avoided questions about her mental illness, which landed her in a psychiatric ward earlier this year, as well her three stints in rehab and her disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007. Instead, she opened up about her teenage sister Jamie-Lynn's pregnancy.

"That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby," Britney said recalling her trip to her hometown of Kentwood, La., to be with Jamie-Lynn, who gave birth to a girl named Maddie. "It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit," Britney said. "But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. OK, we're happy now!"

The rough times the Spears family overcame just brought them closer together, Jamie revealed saying that his relationship with Britney has improved, although at the end of the day she’s still capable of being manipulative to get her way.

"It’s wonderful. (The relationship) is new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot."

As rumored in previous reports, Britney is also working hard to get her career back on track and was excited to announce her upcoming album is due in the next "six to nine months."

"I think it is more urban," she said. "I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever."
