Britney Spears Regains Temporary Visitation Rights

Pop singer Britney Spears’ attorney revealed Sunday that his 25-year-old client had regained temporary visitation rights of her two sons.

The troubled mother of two has been displaying a confusing rollercoaster of highs and lows in the ongoing custody dispute with former husband Kevin Federline over the past several weeks.

This weekend, Brit Brit apparently hit another high, regaining temporary visitation rights of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

People.com reported Saturday that mother and children were temporarily reunited, saying Britney was seen driving with the boys in Studio City, Calif., on Saturday. “A presumed court-appointed monitor was seated in the front seat, with her sons in the rear,” the site reports.

CNN has confirmation of this, reporting that the singer’s lawyer, Anne C. Kiley, confirmed the visitation rights in a telephone interview. “Yes, she's got visitation with the kids,” Kiley told CNN. “She had this weekend, from Saturday morning 'til Sunday at some point.”

Kiley also confirmed the presence of a court-appointed monitor, which is to accompany the family during the visitations, allowed “several days a week.” The schedule will remain in place until a custody hearing slated to be held Friday. “This is just an interim order pending the hearing,” Kiley told CNN.

It was only last Wednesday that Los Angeles County Commissioner Scott Gordon, in charge of the custody case, suspended the singer’s visitation rights altogether until Britney complies with all of the court’s orders. She had previously been deemed a “habitual, frequent and continuous” drug and alcohol abuserand granted only monitored visitation

“Petitioner's (Britney's) visitation with the minor children is suspended pending Petitioner's compliance with the court orders,” it was revealed Thursday that the court documents said.

Gordon initially ruled that the singer be temporarily stripped of custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, “until further notice of the court,” earlier this month, handing the children over to father Kevin Federline.

Britney received monitored visitation rights and was court-ordered to take semi-weekly drug tests. The next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 26. Britney has been ordered to attend at least three joint counseling sessions with Federline, another three individual sessions, as well as twice-weekly random testing for drugs and alcohol, by that time.

Commissioner Gordon allowed sleepovers for the troubled singer and her toddler sons some ten days ago, making this a rare high on Britney’s rollercoaster. He agreed to grant her one overnight visit per week, on condition that a court-approved monitor is present the entire time.

“Time with dad and mom is extremely important,” Commissioner Gordon said at the time. “At the same time, if a person is dealing with challenges - substance issues and emotional issues - this can absolutely affect the children and have a devastating effect.”

Britney and Federline were married for two years before their divorce became final in July
