While Britney Spears' second ex-husband Kevin Federline is busy being a good father to the former couple's two children, the pop singer's first ex-hubby, Jason Alexander, with whom she was only married for 55 hours, started a 10-day sentence in Los Angeles County jail after he violated a court order.
Spears' childhood pal was ordered to complete an alcohol education program including visiting the county morgue as part of his punishment for a 2006 DUI conviction. Alexander appeared in court on Thursday to explain the judge what his reasons were for missing out on two trips to a local morgue that were part of his alcohol education program.
Apparently, the judge wasn't impressed by Alexander's excuse, and the former Britney bridegroom was sent to lockup. "Mr. Alexander will now serve 10 days in the L.A. County jail," senior spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Steve Whitmore was quoted by E! News as saying.
However, Alexander will likely be released early due to the overcrowding situation in the jail, which has resulted in quick in-and-out sentences for stars such as Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie in the past, but that he will likely be locked up until December 9.
Sources close to Alexander told Star magazine that the 27-year-old is well aware that he "messed up" and will do his best to "keep his dead down, stay out of trouble," in order to serve less than the 10 days he was ordered to.
Alexander, who currently works for a clothing company, and Spears tied knot in Las Vegas at 5:30 am on January 3, 2004, but the marriage was annulled by a judge two days later.
