It has been less than 24 hours since Britney Spears’ alleged comeback single "Gimme More" was leaked online but it appears it’s been doing pretty good on the radio.
The track, among a bunch of others, was firstly posted on PerezHilton.com and TMZ.com before premiering on New York station Z-100's site last night. The single made Z100's nightly countdown debuting at #7.
The first impressions on "Gimme More" are generally good given the mess Britney Spears keeps making of herself so often. Her work seems to be appreciated and exceeding expectations.
"Gimme More" which begins with Britney whispering: "It's Britney, b**ch," is about life in the spotlight and according to Mediabase charts, the track is already the #80 song in America.
Described as "an up tempo club cut" and "funky", "Gimme More" has been produced by Timbaland protege Nate "Danjahandz" Hills, who previously worked with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. For other material on her upcoming CD, Britney also worked with J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston).
With her first single in two years already out there, the album is scheduled for a Nov. 13 release, a representative of Jive records told People.
"The track that leaked is off of Britney Spears's forthcoming album. The song is "Gimme More," produced by Danja, [and is] written by Nathaniel "Danjahands" Hills, James Washington, Keri Hilson, Marcella Araica," the spokesperson told People.
Next in line for Britney is the reportedly "shocking" opening act at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 9 she is set to perform together with illusionist Criss Angel, if reports are right.
According to reports, Britney is also rumored to go on tour following the release of her fifth album, reports further fuelled by R&B star Ne-Yo who confirmed he has been working with the singer. He recently told KIIS-FM radio host Ryan Seacrest that "Her new music is definitely up-tempo.
"She's got to remind people why they love her in the first place. She's got to get their minds off her personal life and back on the music.
"I think it's possible she can make a comeback. I heard a lot of the music. I definitely think she can do it."
