Seriously shaken by the recent turn of events, with one of his daughters hospitalized and the other one knocked up, Jamie Spears couldn’t deal with the pressure anymore.
After being by Britney Spears’ side at the hospital following her recent meltdown, Jamie Spears broke down in tears just after his daughter was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday.
"Jamie was really upset," People quoted a source as saying, "He was in tears. When he got to the house and realized the situation there, it broke him down."
Despite their troubled relationship, Jamie was the only relative Britney had left during her mental evaluation after her mother, Lynne, and her teenage sister, Jamie Lynn, returned home to Louisiana before she was rushed to the hospital on a gurney Thursday night.
"[Jamie] thought he understood what was going on," the source explained, but "He doesn't know what to do. Everyone is trying to figure out the best thing to do, but who knows what that is now."
During his stay at the hospital, Jamie received advice from Dr. Phil McGraw, whom he considers "a god," according to the source, and that he told him his daughter's release was "one of the worst decisions that could have been made."
Dr. Phil had also visited Britney prior to her discharge from the hospital and said that their meeting left him "convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention."
"Everyone has been worried for some time," a source was quoted by People as saying. "Her world has been crumbling around her and this is another call for help. Her parents are just devastated. Nobody knows if they can take much more, but they're trying to be as strong as they can."
The pop singer was taken to the hospital and placed on lockdown for a mental evaluation after she locked herself in a room with one of her children, refusing to hand him over to Kevin Federline’s bodyguard when her time with the children, part of the custody agreement, was over.
As a result to her recent breakdown, a judge decided to suspend Britney’s visitation rights at least until the upcoming hearing in the estranged couple’s custody battle, scheduled for January 14.
In the meantime, Britney’s mom, who was photographed early Saturday morning visiting her sister’s grave in Kentwood, Louisiana, urged everyone to "Just say prayers," for her troubled daughter, who is now reportedly at home.
