Looks like pop singer Britney Spears is heading towards another appearance on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," according to recent reports, after her previous performance on the March 24 episode helped the show capture its highest ratings ever.
Although no official confirmation has been made yet from CBS or FOX studios (which produces HIMYM), according to People magazine's website, the troubled pop star, who in recent months has been traveling through life on the roaring, will soon be back on the set to shoot another episode of the comedy.
"The show is ecstatic and so is Britney," a source was quoted by the mag as saying. "She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more."
Since her first cameo role on the popular series as Abby, a ditsy secretary to a dermatologist, Stella (played by "Scrubs" star Sarah Chalke) numerous rumors surfaced claiming the 26-year-old singer would reprise her part in future episodes.
HIMYM costar Neil Patrick Harris said that "Britney did a great job on the show. She really did. In fact, we are all hoping that she returns rather soon to reprise her role as Abby."
Her performance as the geeky receptionist was considered a success and received positive reviews from the critics, while 10.6 million people tuned in to watch Britney's long anticipated appearance, which also topped the pop star's disappointing routine at the MTV Video Music Awards (7.1 million) in September last year.
Executive producer Carter Bays recently told E!Online that they'd love to have Britney reprise her role, saying, "The door is open," and adding that the way in which Brit's character Abby would return might be connected to her final scene in the first episode she made, during which Abby hooked up with Neil Patrick Harris' character, Barney.
