Former pop singer Britney Spears might be given the opportunity to do another awkward performance at this September's MTV Video Music Awards. AP interviewed Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, who said that everyone deserves a second or third chance. The reporter, expectedly, asked if Toffler was joking. It turns out that he was only "sorta" joking.
Well, it might just be that the troubled former singer appears at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7, but we sincerely hope she doesn't. It's better to remember Britney Spears as a singer from back in the day when she could actually sing something. It's also better for her to focus on what's really important: her kids.
Britney's botched career was an opportunity which not many women have and she should be grateful for it. Her own negligence of her mental problems have now buried it, probably for good, but it might be all for the better for Britney as a person.
Britney Spears’ much talked-about comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards show last year has left viewers confused, frustrated and displeased. While on stage at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Britney did not appear to be well. Dressed in sequined black underpants and bra, uncomfortable-looking black boots, somewhat disheveled, in pretty good physical shape, she seemed to have difficulties following her own backing track.
She moved around the stage, did some unsynchronized lip-synching and generally looked confused. Comedienne Sarah Silverman was probably the first to publicly criticize Britney after her failed performance. “She is amazing. She is 25 years old and has already accomplished everything she is going to accomplish in her life,” Silverman mercilessly said.
Let's hope MTV Networks Music Group boss Toffler was just joking and we won't need to watch an encore.
