Britney Spears Behind The Scenes

"How I Met Your Mother" maker Craig Thomas shared his thoughts about Britney Spears' new collaboration with CBS' sitcom.

The pop singer already earned rave reviews from her co-stars, now HIMYM co-exec producer Craig Thomas revealed the latest news from behind the scenes.

"We're thrilled to have Britney Spears on the show. Britney is an exciting new talent and we can't wait for the world to meet her. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out this 'internet' thing everyone's talking about," Thomas said.

"The writers were joking that [Jason] Segel should just run up to Britney and try to make out with her," Thomas was quoted by E!Online as saying about the crew's way of spicing up things during shootings. "He has a movie coming out [Forgetting Sarah Marshall] and it could be, like, a $10-15 million bump in the opening weekend. Even if she’s like 'Get off me! What the f--k are you doing?!' "

Britney, who plays a receptionist for Ted's tattoo-removal doctor (and new love interest), Stella, is set to appear in the second post-strike episode of the series scheduled to air Monday, March 24.

Neil Patrick Harris, who plays Barney Stinson, recently said he too was pleasantly surprised by Britney's talent at the table reading for one of the comedy's episodes.

"She has a good sense of comedy, and has interesting choices," he told People. "It wasn't like she has just been told to stand up there and deliver those lines. I was really surprised by that. She's really funny!"

The 26-year-old star was equally kind to her castmates, telling the press the other day how much fun she's been having on the set.

"Working at How I Met Your Mother has been so terrific," she said. "Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful and Abby is such a fun girl to play. I'm having a blast!"

In fact, things are going so well that according to an insider, producers may even consider making Britney a regular cameo. "She had a lot of fun doing it and she even mentioned extending her character. Who knows? She got along really well with everyone."

CBS spokesman Kelli Raftery confirmed Britney's presence at a table reading with the cast on Monday as well as her "run-through" on Tuesday. The singer was also joined on set by her father, Jamie Spears, who is currently the conservator of her estate, and mother Lynne.

This isn't Britney's first time on primetime television, as she had a previous role on a 2006 episode of "Will and Grace." She was also the host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" in 2000.
