U.S. pop singer Britney Spears and her former husband Kevin Federline agreed their child custody settlement. According to the deal signed on Friday by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, the pop star will increase her child support payments to her ex-spouse with $5,000 a month, from $15,000 to $20,000.
What’s more, Britney Spears must also cover Federline’s $250,000 legal expenses from his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan. The deal reached last week was not fortunate only for Kevin Federline, 30, who obtained sole custody of two children. Britney also received good news, since she won a ruling allowing her to spend more time with her sons, Sean Preston, 2 years and a half, and Jayden James, 1 year and a half.
For the time being, the singer is officially permitted to be visited twice a week by the two little boys, including one overnight per week. However, by the end of the year she will obtain at least an additional sleepover, according to People.com. As cited by the Los Angeles Times, Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser, declared that her client was “at peace” with the agreement, adding that “she couldn’t be happier about it, actually.”
Britney Spears lost custody of her sons last year in October, after she did not attend a random drug testing as she had been demanded at an earlier hearing. In addition to this, she lost her visiting rights in January, when Kevin Federline retained full custody.
Her visitation rights were severely limited this year in consequence of the singer’s rising personal issues and assumed mental health disorders. Nonetheless, the pop star seems to be recovering and working out the critical problems in her life, after she was twice rushed to hospital in January in order to be cared for in a psychiatric unit.
