Britney Spears is ready to try out her
acting skills in a guest appearance in the CBS show “How I Met Your Mother,”
celebrity gossip site TMZ.com reports.
Britney’s agent Jason Trawick
from William Morris made the deal with the show’s producers. TMZ quotes an
unnamed source who called it “a small legitimate project that will keep her
busy doing something.”
CBS spokeswoman Kelli Raftery
told the Associated Press that Britney will guest star in a March 24 episode.
Her scenes will be filmed later this week. The 26-year-old pop-star will embody
a receptionist in a dermatologist’s office named Abby, who falls in love with
Ted (Josh Radnor). Britney attended Monday a table read for the episode, where she
reportedly made a very good impression.
E! Online’s TV blog has confirmed
the fact that would-be guest actress Alicia Silverstone will not join “How I
Met Your Mother” cast, after learning that Britney will be on the same episode.
Silverstone was replaced by Scrubs’
Sarah Chalke, who will play Stella, lead character’s Ted object of affection.
“I was shocked that Madame Spears
was willing to come and do some acting! […] It will be very unlike any Britney
we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently. What if she
shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has
been a big ruse? She is smoking a cigarette and (says), 'Oh yes, it is all a
big bit. I have a master plan,” the show’s star Neil Patrick Harris said.
Britney will co-star with Josh
Radnor, Jason Segal, Alyson Hannigan, Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris.
Spears has previously guest
starred in a 2006 episode of “Will and Grace,” where she portrayed a
conservative talk show host. Britney’s father, who is also her conservator, has
agreed to his daughter’s TV project. Britney is still waging a custody battle
against ex-husband Kevin Federline, over their two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and
Jayden James, 1.
