Britney Spears is taking charge of her career once more –
new studio album “Circus” is due in stores Dec. 2 and the singer is due on
concert stages across the US, and perhaps even further, as soon as next spring.
It is being reported in the media that
pop-princess-looking-to-regain-her-tiara Britney Spears is preparing for a new
concert tour for the first quarter of 2009. The tour, her first since 2004,
would be in support of her upcoming studio album “Circus” and might unravel on
an international level.
Britney Spears last toured four years ago, in support of the
album “In the Zone,” which spawned hits such as “Me Against the Music,”
featuring Madonna, “Toxic” and the weepy ballad “Everytime.”
The Onyx Hotel Tour was a huge success for Spears, grossing
more than $30 million from more than 600,000 fans across North America and Europe.
Soon afterwards, the singer married then back-up dancer
Kevin Federline… and everything else derailed. She gave birth to two boys, put
her career on hiatus, divorced, and had her public meltdown. Now, she is back.
“Circus” is set to be released on Dec. 2, when she
celebrates her 27th anniversary. The first single from the Jive Records album,
“Womanizer,” was released to radio in late September and a video followed,
featuring the youthful-looking sexy Britney fans fell in love with nearly a
decade ago.
Spears has been paving the way for her comeback for a while
now. In September, she attended the TV Video Music Awards and opened the show
alongside host Russell Brand. While she did not perform, she was one of the
night’s victors, taking home three moonmen, for Best Female Video, Best Pop
Video and the top award, Video of the Year, for her single “Piece of Me,” off
last year’s studio album “Blackout.”
On Nov. 30, just days before the release of her new studio
effort, we can all look forward to a candid documentary to air on MTV, “Britney
Spears: For The Record,” where the singer talks about the past couple of years,
what she has overcome and what she is looking forward to.
