Brian Williams Is Russert's Temporary Replacement on "Press"

The anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News is going to serve as temporary replacement for Tim Russert on Meet the Press for the time being. Russert suffered a heart attack on Friday, while at work in the NBC Studios in Washington, D.C. He was unable to recover despite resuscitation efforts.

Brian Williams will be the host of Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, and Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., Democrat of Delaware. They were scheduled for Russert's Meet the Press last Sunday, but after his death the show was dedicated to his memory. The seat that Tim Russert occupied throughout the years was empty this Father’s Day but the love was there as host Tom Brokaw and his group of guests reminisced about the remarkable moderator.

Brian Williams, 49, will be replaced on his Nightly News by Ann Curry for the rest of this week. It is most likely that eventually another permanent replacement for the epic Tim Russert will be found and Williams will reprise his role as the anchor of Nightly News.

Russert managed through his utmost professionalism to make Meet the Press the longest-running program in TV history. The show was also very profitable for the network, bringing in some $60 million in ad revenue for NBC.

Most rumors allege that NBC News reporters David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell are considered to replace Russert on Meet the Press, along with "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, but the network said no permanent replacement was found yet.
