Hollywood's most charitable couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $8 million to various charities through their non-profit Jolie Pitt Foundation in 2006 alone.
According to federal tax records, Pitt, 44, supplied the foundation with $4,402,314 while Jolie gave away $4,123,613. Half of their contribution came from the sale of their baby photos. These latest figures do not include 007 – in which, among other charitable efforts, Brad's Make It Right Foundation raised $5 million, People.com reported.
As written in the tax fillings, the foundation's biggest donations were to Doctors Without Borders and the Global AIDS Alliance. Both organizations received $1 million.
Other sums include $137,935 to the Namibia Red Cross Action Program, part of their continuing commitment to give back to the African nation where the couple's biological daughter, Shiloh, was born, $100,000 apiece to Global Green USA and the Epidermolysis Bulloma Medical Research Foundation, $20,000 to a Los Angeles art park; and $5,000 each to two orphanages Jolie visited.
Jolie also gave $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation, after playing Marianne Pearl, the wife of beheaded Wall Street Journal, in "A Mighty Heart," which only made $9 million at the box office.
Speaking on Pitt and Jolie's charity work, actor Morgan Freeman recently praised their efforts and dedication to helping others during the Pathfinders to Peace Forum and Gala.
"We were in contact with Brad about the situation in New Orleans," Morgan said, calling Jolie "such a wonderful woman."
"Aside from all that physical beauty, she's a real person."
In addition to all the money they've been giving, Pitt and Jolie, who are the proud parents of three adopted children and a biological daughter, with twins on the way, also invest a lot of their precious time in trying to make the world a better place. Pitt's been helping to re-build New Orleans with the Make It Right Foundation while Jolie is traveling the world with the UN to advocate for refugees.
