Brad Pitt is doing the only honorable thing a man can do in
such a situation, that is defend the woman he loves from allegations she is
somewhat manipulative with the press.
Brad Pitt gets to use the word “discombobulated” in his
interview with Rolling Stone magazine for the January issue and to pose with
the thin moustache he has grown for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds.”
He also has – and uses – the chance to defend partner of
three years Angelina Jolie against an article the New York Times published a
short while ago, discussing her manipulative ways with the press.
Pitt, 44, says the journalist who wrote that article is
“totally missing the point” and that Jolie, 33, is not “manipulative in some
way,” as speculated, but “savvy.” Pitt and Jolie welcomed twins Knox and
Vivienne earlier his summer in France and the media went wild over the arrival
of the youngest Jolie-Pitts in the world.
In August, the couple were featured in a special issue of
People magazine, with their newborns and the rest of the brood (one more
biological child and three adopted), after having allegedly struck a $14
million deal with the publication.
Jolie said last month in an interview with the BBC, ahead of
the release of her film “Changeling,” that paparazzi were going to absurd
lengths to obtain photos of the little ones, even drilling holes through the
ceiling of her hospital room.
Pitt reiterated this in his new interview, saying “a huge
bounty was placed on their [the babies’] heads.” The couple considered People
magazine is concerned with doing “more things about the positive spirit of
people” so they decided this would be a good collaboration.
He also defended Angelina Jolie as “not only the woman I
love, but one of the people on this planet who I have the greatest respect for”
and someone who is as “honorable” as any other person he has met.
Another interesting topic of conversation was Pitt’s
favorite movie with Jolie, to which he answered “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” the
project during the completion of which they fell in love.
Earlier this summer, Jolie herself revealed to the New York
Times that she fell in love with Pitt during the filming of “Mr. and Mrs.
Smith.” Last month, Pitt’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston told Vogue she thought
Jolie’s revelations about the beginning of her relationship with the actor –
while he was still married – were “uncool.”
And so it goes.
Brad Pitt’s newest project, “The Curious Case of Benjamin
Button,” directed by David Fincher from a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald,
comes out on Christmas Day and has already earned excellent reviews from film
critics.
