Police officials
looking for Jennifer Hudson’s missing 7-year-old nephew discovered on Monday
the body of an African American boy the same age as Julian King in a white SUV
on the city’s West Side. Nevertheless,
authorities have not disclosed the identity of the dead boy.
The Academy
Award-winning actress’ nephew has been gone since Friday, when Jennifer
Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and brother, Jason Hudson, 29, were found
shot to death at their residence.
Julian King was at his grandmother’s home
when he disappeared and police issued an Amber Alert for him, as well as for a
1994 white Chevrolet Suburban that is said to be the same car in which the
unknown boy’s body was found today.
Jennifer Hudson, 27,
established a reward fund of $100,000 for the safe return of Julian King and
asked fans to pray for her and her family.
Julian is the son of
Julia Hudson, Jennifer’s sister, and the prime suspect in the murders is
William Balfour, Julia’s estranged husband and her son’s stepfather.
Although authorities
had not discovered the motive for the murders, they explained that the case was
“domestic related.”
William Balfour was
taken into custody on Friday, but was not formally charged. He was moved on
Sunday to the Illinois Department of Corrections “based on his active parole
violation unrelated to this investigation,” as he has had several arguments
with the law.
According to the Department of Corrections’ Web site, William Balfour
is on parole and spent several years behind bars for attempted murder,
vehicular hijacking, as well as possessing a stolen vehicle. He was released
from prison approximately two years ago
