Sprint Nextel’s Boost Mobile unit has announced the availability on January 22 of an unlimited service plan that will include unlimited calling, text messaging, wireless Web and walkie-talkie services for just $50 per month.
Boost Mobile said the plan is the result of a continuously increasing pressure from the economic downturn on consumers, and the need to redefine value for them.
The service provider has even invited subscribers of rivals MetroPCS and Cricket to switch to the new offering, for unlimited coverage nationwide, quality services, and a low monthly fee.
Boost Mobile is confident that their offer will be more appealing to consumers even if it is a bit pricier than the competition’s, because it is more reliable and it already includes taxes that the other service providers did not include in their offers.
Matt Carter, president of Boost Mobile, said their plan does not include all those things wireless consumers are so fed up with, such as activation fees, overage charges, or extra costs for services such as voicemail or roaming.
Instead, what you see is what you get, Carter pointed out, adding that the new plan comes with straightforward pricing and predictable payments on a true nationwide network with no restrictions of a local calling area.
According to analysts’ predictions, even if prepaid services such as this one have not enjoyed the greatest success in the United States in the past, the recession might reorient consumers towards them.
