Bond Franchise Lives On

The James Bond film series is one of the most successful, long-lasting movie franchises in cinematographic history. There have been 22 official Bond Movies and 6 official Bonds. There have been countless spoofs and spin-offs, among which the most famous is the 1967 “Casino Royale” Parody, where Peter Sellers plays Bond.

Sean Connery was the first James Bond, and is thus considered the “original Bind”. The first to ask for a Martini “shaken, not stirred”, Sean Connery played the British MI6 spy from 1962 to 1971, in “Dr. No”, “Diamonds are Forever”, “From Russia with Love”, “Goldfinger”, “Thunderball” and “You Only Live Twice.” In 1969, George Lazenby replaced Connery in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” in 1969.

Roger Moore exceeded Connery’s reign, starring in “Live and Let Die”, “The Man With the Golden Gun”, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, “Moonraker”, “For Your Eyes Only”, Octopussy” and “A View to a Kill”.

Timothy Dalton put on the smart suit and hopped behind the wheel of the Aston Martin for only two movies, “The Living Daylights”
 and “License to Kill.”

Pierce Brosnan followed, having great success with “Golden Eye”, “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “The World is Not Enough” and “Die Another Day”.

The latest actor to take on the part of Bond is Daniel Craig, the blue-eyed blonde, quite a change from the trend set by Connery and Brosnan for instance. Craig played the agent first in Casino Royale in 2006, which was a box office hit when it was released, in 2006. The second movie he stars in as “Bond...James Bond” is “Quantum of Solace.” The latter hit it big in Europe at the box office, although reviews have been sectional. The movie opens in the United States on the 14th of November.
