Danny Bonaduce could have been in a bit of trouble after a former Survivor competitor filed a battery report against him earlier this week.
Celebrity gossip site TMZ.com now says that radio personality and former Partridge sibling Danny Bonaduce has been cleared in relation to an altercation that occurred earlier this week between him and Jonny Fairplay.
Fairplay, 33, a competitor on the 2003 “Survivor: Pearl Islands,” filed a police report Wednesday against Bonaduce. During Tuesday’s Fox Reality Really Awards, the two men got into an unexpected onstage brawl.
Fairplay was on stage and confused over booing from the audience when Bonaduce joined him and said into the microphone, “They’re booing because they hate you.”
A video on TMZ.com shows Fairplay jumping into Bonaduce’s arms and hugging him. Bonaduce is then shown flipping Fairplay up and over his head, with the reality show participant falling flat on his face on the floor.
In his police report, Fairplay claimed his teeth were knocked out during the incident. In an interview with TMZ.com, he said he spent two and a half hours in dental surgery. He also told Bonaduce, via TMZ, “You’re mean.”
A document obtained by the celebrity gossip site proves that the L.A. County District Attorney's office has rejected the case against Danny Bonaduce, declaring “Insufficient evidence to prove beyond a doubt.”
“Survivor: Cook Islands” winner Yul Kwon told TMZ that Fairplay is “a disgraceful excuse for a human being,” and accused him of acting inappropriately towards his girlfriend and himself at the awards show.
“The D.A. made the right call in rejecting the criminal battery case,” Kwon said. “Under California law, Fairplay would need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Danny acted with the intent to cause violent physical injury. But there's nothing in the video that comes close to supporting the charge. We need to stop giving Fairplay the attention he's desperately seeking.”
Fairplay’s version of the altercation was that he tried to hug the red-haired radio and television personality. Bonaduce’s take on the incident is that the other man “started to throttle me” and that he only wished to stop the attack, he told TMZ. He added, “I'm sorry he got hurt.”
