Former child star Danny Bonaduce and reality show participant Jonny Fairplay got into a fight during an award show Tuesday that has led to a police investigation.
The Fox Reality Really Awards benefited from some unanticipated excitement Tuesday, as Bonaduce, 48, and Fairplay, 33, had an altercation on stage.
Fairplay, a competitor on 2003’s “ Survivor: Pearl Islands,” was on stage and confused over booing from the audience when Bonaduce joined him and said into the microphone, “They’re booing because they hate you.”
A video on TMZ.com shows Fairplay jumping into Bonaduce’s arms and hugging him. Bonaduce is then shown flipping Fairplay up and over his head, with the reality show participant falling flat on his face on the floor.
Fairplay filed a police report Wednesday, claiming his teeth were knocked out during the incident. In an interview with TMZ.com, Fairplay said he spent two and a half hours in dental surgery. He also told Bonaduce, via TMZ, “You’re mean.”
The Associated Press reports that the former Survivor’s battery report was filed around 2 a.m. at a Hollywood hospital where Fairplay was being treated, quoting Officer April Harding.
“He had one tooth broken, another tooth missing from his gum line and two other teeth that were loose,” she said.
Fairplay’s version of the altercation is that he tried to hug the red-haired radio and television personality. Bonaduce’s take on the incident is that the other man “started to throttle me” and that he only wished to stop the attack, he told TMZ. He added, “I'm sorry he got hurt.”
Bonaduce became famous at the age of ten, when he starred as Danny Partridge on the 1970s show “The Partridge Family.”
He currently co-hosts syndicated morning radio program “The Adam Carolla Show,” alongside Adam Carolla.
