Following the big city adventures of the “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,”
“Bolt” decides to give success a bark as well. And it can’t possibly fail,
believe me. The new animated movie from Disney is sufficiently clever to draw
both adults and kids into its sweet and witty world whose star is the eponymous
White Shepherd who seems to be able to outmaneuver the best of villains.
Bolt (humorously voiced by John Travolta) apparently has
super powers, because he and his owner, Penny (teenage icon Miley Cyrus), manage
to escape many breathtaking confrontations thanks to the dog’s speed and
strength. When things straighten out a bit, we realize that Bolt is a super dog
only on the sets, since he is the star of a TV program.
However, the pooch is unaware of the fact that he is an
ordinary dog who does not have out-of-this-world qualities, as he has been
raised to consider himself a superhero. Although the cameras pursue him in his
journeys, Bolt is very confident and feels very proud of his supposed super
powers. When he is unintentionally shipped from Hollywood
to New York City,
Bolt believes that he can get back home by making use of his speed and other
extraordinary features, just to find out that he is unable to employ them. He
thinks that his powers have been taken away from him and, thus, tries to save the
day with the help of a world-weary housecat named Mittens (Susie Essman) and a
couch potato hamster dubbed Rhino (Mark Walton).
“Bolt” is an amazing surprise, whose charm is boosted by the
furry little creatures, as well as by the story’s satirical touch, which takes
aim at Hollywood lifestyles. “Bolt” really shines all the way!
