Investigators in Montezuma County, Colorado, have found dismembered
body parts in concrete buckets at a missing man’s home, and arrested the man’s son
on suspicion of murder, the sheriff said Tuesday, according to the Associated
Press.
Jack Berry’s relatives said he had been missing for several
months, but investigators have not yet determined whether the dismembered body
was Berry’s. Jeremiah Raymond Berry, 20,
is currently being held on a $500,000 bond until the investigation finishes.
Sheriff Gerald Wallace said the body parts were found in the
buckets following a CT scan done at a hospital. The scan revealed body parts
inside.
"It's not like your normal homicide where you have a
body lying there, and you can identify him," he said. "There were
some body parts in two buckets of concrete."
As parts of the body are still missing, investigators are
using a dog trained to find cadavers, in order to discover the rest of them.
One of the buckets was found at Berry’s home, but police did
not reveal where the other buckets were found.
The investigation began Monday after the Arizona Department
of Public Safety relayed a missing person report about Jack Berry to Colorado
officials. The person who originated the report has not been identified yet.
Jeremiah Berry was considered the first person of interest.
According to the Associated Press, the sheriff declared he helped investigators
with the search.
