Singer Bobby Brown denies having had a heart attack Tuesday night and says he is in good health and ready for his upcoming gig.
Bobby Brown, the former husband of Whitney Houston, was hospitalized Tuesday night in Los Angeles after reportedly suffering a heart attack. His attorney, Phaedra Parks, told the Associated Press that he had been diagnosed with a “mild heart attack.”
“This morning they did diagnose him as suffering from a mild heart attack ... they attributed to stress and diet,” Parks told the AP, specifying that she had talked to her client. She also said Brown experienced severe chest pains Tuesday night and was released Wednesday morning from a hospital in good condition.
“Bobby is doing good. He is in good spirits,” Parks said.
Bobby Brown however has a different version of the story. He told Associated Press Radio that he did not suffer a heart attack and that he is in fact in good condition.
“None of it's true,” the 38-year-old singer said. “I went in for a checkup. The doc gave me a clean bill of health.”
He commented that the reports of his heart attack gave him a “jolt” and that he felt he needed to clarify things with the press.
“I did go to the hospital ... to just get a checkup, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine,” Brown said. “I don't know where the heart attack thing came from. I got my heart and everything checked out earlier this morning, and I'm just fine.”
TMZ.com reports that Brown was taken to Tarzana Regional Medical Center in California by his girlfriend and hospitalized.
He is scheduled to perform at the V100 Taste of Soul concert and festival in Los Angeles this Saturday.
Bobby Brown was married to Whitney Houston for 14 years. Their divorce was finalized earlier this year, with Whitney receiving custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Christina.
Brown has appealed the judge’s ruling in the case and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the girl, as well as spousal and child support.
