Blizzard Announces the Upcoming BlizzCon 2008

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the upcoming BlizzCon 2008 is going to take place in Anaheim on October 10-11. Even though the price for the tickets can be considered somehow high, Blizzard is expecting that they will sell out rather quickly thanks to the numerous fans the company’s games have.

The convention is dedicated to Blizzard Entertainment’s games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft or the Diablo franchise.

People that will participate will be encouraged to take part in a number of activities such as testing the games and patches the company plans to release, costume contests and tournaments for the players. In addition to these, the fans are invited to discussion panels with the Blizzard Entertainment developers and even a silent auction.

Fans are looking forward to the convention also because of Blizzard’s habit of announcing new game releases on these occasions. At the last two Blizzard conventions, the company announced the upcoming release of Wrath of the Lich King, an expansion pack to the extremely popular World of Warcraft, as well as a sequel to the very successful strategy game, Starcraft. However, the release dates for these games have not been made public so far.

Since rumors are that the expansion pack is close to finalization, the fans are already speculating on whether Blizzard will announce the date of its release.

Another possible announcement could be the revival of the Diablo series, idea backed up by the fact that the company has bought the diablo3.com domain name.
