Verizon has launched on the Internet and through the air waves software updates that have the goal to fix Storm’s many bugs. The BlackBerry Storm didn’t have such a good start as many reviews proved to be negative, the phone feeling unfinished and not user friendly.
Research In Motion has to work on Storm’s image as Christmas is coming and their latest gadget will have to compete with Apple’s iPhone, the G1 and other smart phones. There still are people who defend BlackBerry’s new device, claiming that critics don’t know what they are talking about and that the Storm is an excellent phone. In a bizarre turn of events the critics’ response to the angry mob of fans was that the people defending the Storm have probably never tried one out in their lives.
It is a shame that the Storm gets so much negative advertising, as people argue whether the phone is reliable or not and if the keyboard works or not. BlackBerry’s trademark has always been the physical keyboard, which helped users accomplish all sort of tasks, like writing emails or instant messages.
The transition to the touchscreen keyboards, as it can be seen, is difficult and Research In Motion needs to try a little bit harder in order to make the system work just right. The keyboard is the most important thing in a smart phone, as it is needed for typing emails and navigating the web. A bad keyboard makes for a bad smart phone.
The new BlackBerry seems slow and it doesn’t compare with its predecessors in terms of quality and reliability, but maybe the Storm has another chance if all the bugs will be fixed with software updates.
