During an investor call, Take Two
announced it will release a sequel of its widely-acclaimed game, Bioshock.
The Take Two execs said that the new
game, which for the moment was introduced as Bioshock 2, will be developed by
2K Marin, but they confirmed that Ken Levine will be involved in the
development of the new game.
The launch date is still uncertain, but
Take Two said that the game is scheduled for Q2 2009, which means that it is
possible that the game will be released sometimes during August-October period.
In Bioshock, which was released in
August last year, players enter the game as a castaway in Rapture, an
underwater utopia torn apart by civil war.
Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified
"splicers" and deadly security systems, players have to come to grips
with a dangerous and mysterious world filled with powerful technology and
fascinating characters. With multiple avenues for surmounting challenges on
both a moral and tactical level, no encounter ever plays out the same. The game
sold 2 million units since its release across both the PC and Xbox 360
platforms
Take Two also hinted about a new Max Payne
title, especially since the movie is on its way and it seems like a new sequel of
Grand Theft Auto will be released in Q4 2009.
