Billy Donovan To Coach Orlando Magic

Billy Donovan was named today as the new head coach of the Orlando Magic. Previously the coach of the University of Florida, Donovan compiled a 261-103 record in NCAA. According to media reports, he signed a five-year, 27.5-million-dollar contact.

"The easy decision would have been for me to stay at Florida," said Donovan, "Or I could take the next step and do something that would really challenge me as a person, as a coach, and help me grow, help me get better. I've always been intrigued by the NBA and the 24 hours of basketball."

"It's a new challenge and one that I've never coached an NBA game, so I'm going to get up to speed on a lot of different things," he continued. "But I feel like I've got great passion; I feel like I've got a tremendous work ethic; I feel like I love the game and I feel like I'm going to work very hard at that. I'm excited about that kind of challenge." Donovan replaces Brian Hill, who was fired May 23 by Orlando.

Also the Memphis Grizzlies hired Phoenix assistant Marc Iavaroni and the next coach of The Indiana Pacers will be Jim O'Brien who will replace Rick Carlisle.
