A massive storm system hit the middle of the Unites States on Monday bringing tornadoes, high winds, rain showers and heavy snow with it.

A tornado hit southwest Missouri wrecking an antique store and a gas station in Buffalo injuring three people in the process. A sudden "downburst" from the thunderstorm allegedly caused all the damage according to Terry Lane, emergency management director for Missouri's Dallas County.

The strong winds turned the town of Neosho, 90 miles southwest of Buffalo, into an awful sight. Roofs and windows were shattered by the high winds; threes fell over power lines, but fortunately there were no injured reported.

Northern Oklahoma was also hit by a tornado. It touched the ground before dawn tearing off a house roof and wrecking several other buildings. Authorities reported no injuries.

Residents have later found out what damaged their homes. It was a short-lived tornado according to National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Smith, who made public the results of an investigation.

The storm also caused many roads to close in northwest Oklahoma County due to the high water.

A person died because of the heavy snow that poured over Colorado and several other were injured in a 75-vehicle pileup along Interstate 70 near Vail Pass. The highway was shut down, said State Trooper Gilbert Sullivan.

Minnesota and Wisconsin were also affected by the heavy snow fall and hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed by rain showers in Illinois. As much as 400 flights were canceled at O'Hare International Airport according to Gregg Cunningham, spokesman for the Chicago Department of Aviation.
