In an interview for the French JeuxVideo
gaming magazine, Michel Ancel, the creator of Beyond Good and Evil has
announced that a sequel for the game is in preproduction.
Beyond Good and Evil has earned the critics acclaim and was
greatly appreciated by most of the people who played it. However, the game
disappointed in what the sales where concerned. After getting extremely good
reviews for its very original story, the game was practically forgotten by the
public.
Michel Ancel announced Wednesday that the game has been in
preproduction for a year now, but only on paper. Ubisoft, the game developer,
was reluctant to agreeing to start work on the project, most probably because
of its financial lack of success. Michel Ancel also stated that a team of about
10 people are working with him on the sequel.
The game was planed to be a trilogy, and the first episode
focuses on Jade, a photographer that helps children whose parents have been
killed by an alien race invading the planet. She then accidentally discovers a
conspiracy between forces claiming to help with defending the planet and its
aggressor.
According to Michel Ancel, Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be
more focused on the future of the planet and the relationship with the animals.
As far the gameplay is concerned, the creator assures us of having” a great
variety of levels, lots of emotions in the gameplay and lots of charming
animals.”
Whether the sequel will ever be released remains to be seen,
what is sure is that the few but rabid fans of the game are keeping their
fingers crossed in hope of having the chance to see what adventures Beyond Good
and Evil 2 will bring this time.
