Rumors of a wedding between Beyoncé Knowles and longtime
partner Jay-Z have been lingering for quite a while, but this time around, as People
magazine reports the two have taken out a marriage license, nuptials could be
just around the corner.
People magazine reports on its website that Beyoncé Knowles
and Jay-Z have taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y.
A source told the magazine that the pair obtained a license Tuesday morning.
The document is valid for 60 days.
The glamorous musical couple has been dating for 6 years and
previous reports of an upcoming wedding have been denied time after time.
Denials were in order this time around as well, with a rep
for Beyoncé telling People, “No comment,” while Jay-Z’s spokesperson could not
be reached.
Beyoncé, 26, and Jay-Z, 38, have been refreshingly discreet
about their relationship, ever since 2002, when they started dating. Perhaps
they would not even have made their romance public, had it not been for their collaborations
on Jay-Z’s song “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” and Beyoncé’s solo hit “Crazy in Love,”
in 2003, which sparked rumors that their partnership was not solely musical.
In December 2006, the couple was rumored to be tying the
knot in the Caribbean, in luxurious settings, but
their representatives quickly killed off the speculation.
Beyoncé told InStyle magazine that same year something of
the male psychology: “You can’t rush a man into anything - whether it’s a
relationship, marriage or having children. When he’s ready, he’ll let you
know.”
Jay-Z in turn said last September, when asked about plans to
marry that it would happen “One day soon — let's leave it at that.”
The two musicians are a true power couple. Both are
multi-platinum selling musicians, Grammy Award recipients and savvy
entrepreneurs. For example, Beyoncé has her own fashion line, House of Deréon,
created with mom/stylist Tina Knowles.
Jay-Z, president and CEO of Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella Records,
as well as co-owner of the New Jersey Nets NBA team, was listed as the greatest
“Hip-Hop Cash King” by Forbes last year.
