A rather odd accusation was made by the former patients of a Beverly Hills doctor, who alegedly used the liposuctioned fat from his patients to fuel his car.
The details for this unusual case were presented by Forbes.com. The patients sued the doctor for allowing his unlicensed girlfriend and also an assistant to perform the liposuction procedures, which felt some of them disfigured, as explained by attorney Andrew Besser in an interview for the Web site. Mr. Besser represents three of the doctor’s former patients.
The doctor, Mr. Craig Alan Bittner, apparently claimed on a Web site that he managed to create a so-called lipodiesel from his patients’ fat and successfully used it to power two vehicles - his Ford SUV and his girlfriend’s Lincoln Navigator.
The California public health department is currently conducting an investigation on the matter to find out if all the accusations are indeed true, as the state’s health officials explained that California law forbids the use of human medical waste to power vehicles and is considered highly illegal.
Bitter’s practice, called the Beverly Hills Liposculpture, was closed in November and his licence was annulled.
At the time, he explained that his intentions on the fuel procedure were to find a better way for transportation, but the fact is that there is no proof that his process was in any way environmentally friendly.
For now, Mr. Bittner is nowhere to be found and it is believed that he has fled the country and has relocated in South America.
