Beer Pong Is In Need Of Some Finnishing Touches Before Its Release

The rating given to the game Beer Pong managed to attract numerous negative comments, as it would allow minors to purchase it without any problems. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal expressed his firm disapproval to the whole situation, calling it a mistake and advising the game’s publisher to find a solution as soon as possible.

The video game captures one of the most popular college games, where the competitors have to throw a ping pong ball into their opponents’ cups. When the ball indeed ends up in the cup, its owner has to drink beer. JV’s Vice President Jag Jaeger explained that the game is not focused on the drinking but rather on the sport developed on beer pong. He also brought into discussion the Las Vegas’ annual Beer Pong World Series where people compete for a $50,000 first prize.

In addition to Mr. Jag Jaeger’s explanations, the ESRB ratings board made it clear that it stands by its initial rating and that there is no misunderstanding because there are no actual screenshots with anyone drinking beer, but the game, developed by JV Games Inc. and set to come out on the Nintendo Wii console, is expected to receive a slight brush-off before its launch, removing all alcohol references and even having its name changed to Pong Toss.

With all of JV’s defensive statements, which actually make a pretty good point, Nintendo decided on immediately acting on the matter as its efforts are focused on releasing family friendly games, the company’s bread and butter.
