Directed by Simon J. Smith and Steve Hickner and with Jerry
Seinfeld as one of its four writers, “Bee Movie” has outranked the “American
Gangster” this weekend in the North American box office, reports from Sunday
said.
Jerry Seinfeld’s story about the bee hive earned close to $26
million this week-end according to Box Office Mojo. Apparently the animated
movie seemed to be more on the public taste than the story of drug seller Frank
Lucas played by Denzel Washington in the “American Gangster” which earned only
$24.32 million in sales this week being on No. 2 spot.
The two movie changed places this week after “American
Gangster” placed on No.1 last week with selling estimated at $46.3 million,
while the “Bee Movie” collected an estimated $39.1 million.
However “American Gangster” is still on the top with a total
selling of $80.7 million since it was first opened on November 2. The “Bee
Movie” succeeded to earn not more than $72.2 million although its opening was
on the same date as the first one.
Next following on best sold movies list was Warner Bross’
“Fred Claus” with Vince Vaughn, which came on third with $19.2 million in
sales.
“Lions for Lambs”, Robert Redford ‘s political drama
starring with Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep
classed on the fourth place this week with total sales of $6.7 million.
Disney’s “Dan in Real Life” came on fifth on this week-end
box office chart with $5.9 million in sales, dropping with 25 percent from
previous week when it was on fourth place with sales of $8.1 million.
