Battlestar Galactica Confuses Die-Hard Fanbase

Battlestar Galactica is one of the most successful science fiction franchises, overcome only by such giants like Star Trek or Star Wars. The Battlestar Galactica franchise includes not only the popular television series, but also science fiction movies, book adaptations, original novels, comic books and video games. The first television series began in 1978, followed by a miniseries in 2003 which re-imagined the first, and it all culminated with the regular television series that began in 2004.

The premise of Battlestar Galactica is easy to follow. A number of planets, called the Twelve Colonies, are inhabited by humans. These colonies were at one point at war with a cybernetic race, called the Cylons. Baltar, a human, helps the Cylons ambush the colonies, although this was unintentional from his part in the 2004 series (but intentional in the original series). The attack devastates both the planets and the inhabitants, so that only a few humans are left. They board their remaining ships, among which the last ship of the Colonian Fleet, the Battlestar Galactica. Their purpose is to get every last survivor to the fabled refuge of Earth.

The fan base of the show is one of the most fanatical out there, some of them being die-hard fans ever since the original series in 1978. It comes as no surprise that the majority of the dedicated fan base is disappointed because of how much the plot of the series has been stretched. Right now, the biggest controversy revolves around the identity of the final Cylon, Ellen Tigh, a dead character.
