Travis Barker, the former drummer of band Blink-182, and DJ AM narrowly escaped death after being involved in a plane crash that happened on the 19th of September, a Friday night. The two men were flying with a small jet plane, flown by pilot Sarah Lemmon and co-pilot James Bland. Accompanying them on the plane were Chris Baker and Charles Still, both friends of Barker and DJ AM, but also work colleagues with the two.
The plane they were on failed to lift and went off the runway, proceeding to skid down the road, only to stop on an embankment, catching fire immediately. Travis Barker and DJ AM managed to jump from the airplane before it hit the embankment. The pilot, co-pilot, Chris Baker and Charles Still all passed away, the first two because of impact-resulted injuries and the latter because of the fire and inhaling smoke.
The two surviving men were taken to hospital and committed on the spot. Travis Barker reportedly suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the lower half of his body, and DJ AM – facial burns. Since then, they have both undergone a series of surgeries, most of them involving skin grafts.
Recently, Travis’ former wife, Shanna Moakler said she had almost been on that plane herself, but changed her mind at the last minute due to a bad feeling. She is now thankful that she didn’t board the plane and that Travis escaped, shuddering at the thought that their children were close to being left orphans. Travis Barker was released from hospital a few days ago and returned to Los Angeles. Although divorced and broken up again after an attempted reconciliation, the two were seen having dinner together on Sunday night, at an Italian restaurant. It’s quite uncertain whether they will reconcile again.
