President-elect Barack Obama is having some time off with his family before he takes office on January 20. And a good start is always preceded by exercise. On his first full day of a 12-night vacation in Oahu, Barack Obama worked out at the fitness center of a Marine Corps base in Honolulu.

 

In spite of the fact that Obama is expected to concentrate on his family and friends during the holidays, aides claim that he is still doing transition work, which includes national security briefings that take place every day.

 

Michelle Obama and her husband traveled from their rented vacation home in Kailua, Hawaii, on Sunday and they worked out together for 45 minutes at the Marine fitness center. Barack Obama subsequently enjoyed a golf round and an incredible weather with temperatures approximately 80 degrees higher than those in Chicago.

 

Just before the President-elect started his game, he asked photographers how many shots they needed.

 

During their Hawaii vacation, the Obama family members are staying in a $9 million single-story beachfront residence, which consists of five bedrooms, not far from the spot where the President-elect grew up.

 

The house is positioned on almost an acre of land looking onto Kailua Beach, a good place for windsurfers and kayakers, and is less than a mile from another beach house where the Obamas spent their weeklong summer vacation in August.

 

Barack Obama most recently visited Hawaii a couple of months ago, when he interrupted his campaign trail so as to see his seriously ill grandmother, who died at the Punahou Circle Apartments in Honolulu less than two days before her grandson was elected president.
